Chemonics International Headquarters
The Yards, Washington, DC
Meany & Oliver represented Brookfield Properties/Forest City Realty Trust in the 288,641 square foot prelease to Chemonics International. This was the first build-to-suit lease at The Yards and brought Chemonics’ Virginia and DC locations into a single landmark building. Located at 1275 New Jersey Avenue, SE, Chemonics’ headquarters building will include ground-floor retail, several levels of outdoor terraces, adaptable meeting space and two levels of underground parking. The project is expected to deliver in 2021 and begins The Yards’ second phase which will include approximately 1.8 million square feet of office space. Once completed in 2030, The Yards will comprise 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, up to 3,400 multifamily units and a 225-room Thompson Hotel located on 48 acres on the Anacostia River waterfront.

Corporate Executive Board

One of Meany & Oliver’s most notable transactions was the representation of The JBG Companies in the negotiation of the 625,000 square foot lease with Corporate Executive Board at the Waterview building in Rosslyn, Virginia. At the time, this was the largest private sector office lease ever completed in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and the first major relocation of a firm from downtown Washington, DC to Arlington.
